Daian Sumner lands new role as student examiner21/11/13
Daian Sumner has been selected as an external examiner by the Bar Standards Board (BSB) for the Chancery option offered at the University of Law (Birmingham and London) on the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC).
The BSB regulates barristers called to the bar in England and Wales in the public interest and promotes excellence and quality within the barrister profession. The BSB in its capacity as the regulator for education and training for the Bar has responsibility for ensuring that barristers have the right level of skills and knowledge to provide services to the public.
The Board appoints external examiners to ensure the quality and standards of the rigorous qualification process of the BPTC are ensured and maintained.
Miss Sumner, whose term will run until October 2017, said: "Before joining Chambers I was involved in education as a Senior Lecturer at the School of Law, Manchester Metropolitan University as well as being a visiting lecturer at Hong Kong University's School of Professional And Continuing Education."
"I see this role as giving something back and to help ensure students are bridging the gap between their academic studies and starting pupillage which is part of further training in the practice of law."
